This course introduces the funding landscape for impact-driven startups and not-for-profits in the MENA/UAE region. You’ll explore common funding sources, investor types, key pros and cons, startup stages and funding series, and the essentials of UAE grant processes and timelines.
What You’ll Learn
- Identify and compare funding options: 3Fs, banks/financial institutions, angels, VCs, crowdfunding, accelerators/incubators.
- Differentiate investor types (DFIs, family offices with ESG focus, angels, VCs) and when each is relevant.
- Recognize startup stages (ideation → maturity/exit) and how they align with pre-seed, seed, and later series.
- Understand trade-offs (dilution, cost/repayment, flexibility, speed, credibility) across funding routes.
- Distinguish impact startups from NFPs and when grant funding is appropriate.
- Outline the UAE grant application journey and typical 6–12 month timeline.
